Quick answer
beehiiv has four current plan types: Free, Lite, Pro, and Enterprise. Free supports up to 2,500 active subscribers, unlimited email sends, one publication, and digital products. At 1,000 active subscribers, Lite is $59 per month and Pro is $109 per month on monthly billing. With annual billing selected, the pricing page displays $49/month for Lite and $95/month for Pro; the annual invoice was not confirmed, so these are displayed rates rather than exact annual-cost calculations.
Start with Free for core publishing and eligible digital-product sales. Lite adds paid subscriptions, Ad Network access and up to 10 live custom automations. Pro adds branding removal, unlimited custom automations, 10 publications and 10 team seats.

Paid prices depend on active-subscriber count. Only the 1,000-subscriber quotes above were reverified. Annual display rates are not monthly invoices; confirm the annual total, currency and applicable taxes at checkout.
How beehiiv calculates your bill
beehiiv separates plan features from active-subscriber capacity. Free, Lite, Pro and Enterprise are plan types. Lite and Pro prices increase by subscriber tier.
The 1,000-subscriber paid tier covers a workspace with up to 1,000 active subscribers. Lite supports up to 100,000 and Pro up to 250,000; Enterprise has custom limits. For other list sizes, obtain a current quote from the live pricing calculator.
Active subscribers are added across all publications in the workspace. Multiple publications do not each receive a separate allowance. Existing-account transitions or grandfathered prices were not confirmed.
Free: what the free plan includes
Free costs $0 for up to 2,500 active subscribers. It includes unlimited sends, a hosted publication website, a custom domain, one publication, one team seat, and digital products including one-time purchases.
Free does not include custom email automations, paid newsletter subscriptions or Ad Network access. Digital products are available across plans with 0% beehiiv commission; confirm product-type limits and payment-processing requirements before launching.
A list below 2,500 subscribers does not automatically need a paid plan.
Lite: when the paid plan becomes useful
At 1,000 active subscribers, Lite costs $59/month on monthly billing. The annual-billing selector displays $49/month; the annual invoice is not verified here.
Lite includes paid subscriptions, Ad Network access, up to 10 live custom automations, three publications and two team seats. Digital products are also included on Free, so selling a digital product alone is not a reason to upgrade.
beehiiv charges a 0% platform fee on paid-subscription revenue. Payment processing remains separate. Upgrade when a paid feature has a clear job and its value justifies the subscription cost.
Pro: who should pay for it
At 1,000 active subscribers, Pro costs $109/month on monthly billing. The annual-billing selector displays $95/month; the annual invoice is not verified here.
Pro provides branding removal, unlimited live custom automations, up to 10 publications, 10 team seats and subscriber capacity up to 250,000. Verify other specialist features against the current feature grid rather than assuming that every former Max entitlement maps to Pro.
Pro is justified by a concrete feature or capacity requirement. A solo creator does not need it merely because a small newsletter is growing.
Monthly versus annual billing
At the advertised starting tier:
| Plan (1,000 subscribers) | Monthly invoice | Annual-billing displayed monthly rate | Annual invoice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $59 | $49 | Not verified |
| Pro | $109 | $95 | Not verified |
The displayed annual-billing monthly rate is lower, but the exact annual invoice and savings were not verified. Do not infer the invoice by multiplying the rounded display by 12. Annual billing also increases commitment. Monthly billing is safer when the newsletter has not yet established consistent publishing, audience growth, or revenue.
Annual billing becomes more reasonable when:
- You have used the platform long enough to validate the workflow
- A paid feature is part of an active revenue process
- The newsletter has predictable cash flow
- You expect to stay on the same plan for the full year
The annual discount should not be treated as a saving if the account may be downgraded or abandoned after a few months.
The costs that are easy to miss
Subscriber-tier increases
The advertised Lite and Pro prices are starting prices. Your bill rises with the active subscriber tier. Check the live calculator at the list size you expect to reach, not only at your current size.
Stripe processing
beehiiv states that it takes 0% of paid subscription revenue, but Stripe's standard payment-processing fees remain separate. A 0% platform fee does not mean payment collection is free.
Workspace-wide subscriber counts
Lite’s 100,000 and Pro’s 250,000 subscriber ceilings apply collectively across publications in the workspace. Multiple newsletters do not each receive a separate allowance.
Annual commitment
Annual prices are billed upfront. The lower effective monthly rate should be weighed against reduced flexibility.
Feature-driven upgrades
A newsletter can remain below 2,500 subscribers and still need Lite for automation, paid subscriptions or ads. Conversely, a creator who does not need those features may remain on Free until reaching the free-plan limit.
Which beehiiv plan should you choose?
Choose Free if:
- You have up to 2,500 active subscribers
- You are validating a new newsletter
- Unlimited sending and core publishing tools are enough
- You do not yet need automations, paid subscriptions or ads
Choose Lite if:
- You need email automations
- You plan to use paid subscriptions or the Ad Network
- You need up to 10 live custom automations, three publications or two seats
- You have a clear plan for recovering the monthly cost
Choose Pro if:
- Removing beehiiv branding is commercially important
- You manage more than three publications
- You need up to 10 team seats
- You need unlimited live custom automations or a subscriber capacity above Lite’s limit
Choose Enterprise if:
- Your workspace exceeds Pro’s 250,000 active-subscriber capacity
- You need negotiated publication, seat or service limits
- Your requirements justify a negotiated contract
Is beehiiv worth paying for?
The answer depends on whether the paid features produce measurable value.
A simple decision rule is:
Monthly value created or time saved by paid features > monthly plan cost
For a paid newsletter, compare the subscription revenue enabled by Lite with the plan fee and Stripe costs. For an advertising-supported newsletter, compare Ad Network earnings with the full plan cost. For an operator using automations, estimate the hours saved and the revenue impact rather than treating automation as an abstract benefit.
If there is no measurable use for a paid feature, Free is the lower-risk choice.
How beehiiv compares with MailerLite on pricing
beehiiv and MailerLite use different pricing logic. beehiiv includes unlimited sends across its plans and reserves many newsletter growth and monetization tools for paid tiers. MailerLite's current plans combine subscriber and sending limits with a broader email-marketing, website, form, booking, and digital-product toolkit.

Bottom line
Start with Free unless you can name the paid feature that changes your economics or workflow. Choose Lite for paid subscriptions, ads and automation; digital products are already included on Free. Choose Pro only when its operational upgrades solve a real requirement.
Before upgrading, set the pricing calculator to your actual active-subscriber count, compare monthly and annual billing, and include Stripe fees where relevant.
